The Organizers aka Some of Your Favorite Blues Dancers
Martin Beally aka LindyChef
Martin
has been a swing dancer since early 1999, but it wasn't until the summer
of 2002 that he discovered a love of blues dance and that love has
progressively gotten deeper. First it was just dancing, then came
DJing (you can usually find him spinning tunes at any given blues party
in the PacNW ) and after that, naturally, comes organizing. The
Emerald City Blues Festival came from a realization that in the PacNW
blues dancing and live blues music don't meet as often as they should.
Both scenes are great in their own right, but why not create an event
that both scenes can enjoy?
Solomon Douglas
Solomon Douglas (Sacramento, California) has been a die-hard Blues dancer for more than six years. He was teaching Blues workshops in 2001, and has taught all-Blues full-weekend workshops as long ago as 2002, when the concept was still a new and
unfamiliar one in the Lindy Hop world. He is well known throughout North America and worldwide as a social dancer, a Blues and Lindy Hop DJ, an instructor, and a musician. In the past, he has had a hand in organizing Lindy Hop and Balboa workshops, and this is his first time organizing an all-Blues event.
