A Note from Topher and Martin
As people who live and dance primarily on the west coast, we've come to see that there’s a bit of a dividing line between the blues community. It's not ideology...deep down we’re all dancers and we all love blues, in whatever forms we find it. Instead, this dividing line is geographical. Many of the people on the west coast have no idea who's hot on the east coast and vice versa.
When we were hard-core lindy hoppers, we knew pretty well what was going on in each scene across the country, who was developing new DJ skills, who was the new instructor to look out for. As blues dancers, this isn't the case ... and that’s a shame.
Thus, we wanted to create an event that brought together the entire blues community. It’s an opportunity for regional and new DJs to make their mark. It's an opportunity for up and coming instructors to show off their skills to organizers from across the country ... and it's an opportunity for those new organizers to learn for the hard work and mistakes made by the ones who have made them before. We wanted everyone to come together to share knowledge, make new connections and hopefully take away ideas that will make them better teachers, better DJs, better dancers and better leaders.
We're really grateful that the Dallas scene has come together to collaborate with us in creating a unique and groundbreaking event. Special thanks to Bryan for taking care of the website, Tina for providing local leadership and Jerry for venue coordination."
